Painting done!

This piece, as yet untitled, is the large painting ( 40"x60") that I've just finished. It's about striving, aspirations, vulnerability, precariousness... It's part of a show that opens June 1 at The Finer Things Gallery in Shawnigan Lake. I've got four large pieces in this show which is a tribute show to Will Julsing. Anyone who is interested is so welcome to come, the opening is 5-9 pm on Friday.

This is the one done earlier this year of my son, Matt, about to graduate from high school, it's titled Edge. I don't remember if I'd put the finished piece on this blog.

Enjoyed drawing today

It was great to work with Harry again today, it's been a while since he's modeled for us.

A few of today's drawings

Hopefully I'll get a painting posted soon!! Having to cope with using Matt's computer for the moment as mine's in the hospital.

Jillan modeled today, had a wonderful day except I couldn't find my sketch book so the pieces are rather scrappy as were on the backs of other drawings.

Michael today

As I had to take Ron into the hospital for tests this morning, I was only able to fit in two 45 minute drawings today. Michael is a model I've worked with for many years and often a strong emotional content comes through in the drawings. The face study speaks of his own endurance through some very difficult and painful times.

Jillan - a small selection from today

I decided to try something a bit different and add just a touch of colour to my drawings, and use toned paper for some of them.

A couple from today

I had to miss some of our drawing time today because of an appointment, but here's a couple to give you a sample. It's a new thing for me to work with ink, and quite tricky as one has to anticipate the line beforehand and just do it in one sweep. No erasing, no mistakes!
